While buying beauty and cosmetic products help you get a flawless, beautiful complexion, there are other non-beauty/cosmetic tips that can also give your skin the beautiful and natural glow you want. Even though my blog is all about which beauty and cosmetic products work best and actually do what it claims, I think it’s really vital to pass on the ‘natural’ message. And what is this message you ask?
Over many years of buying and using cosmetics, I have also come across many natural tips that help you achieve beautiful skin that you can add to your beauty regime. Here’s what I have picked up along the way:
– Get some well deserved beauty sleep, the type of sleep we all love: It’s that simple! Literally get your 7 – 8 hours of sleep a night. Sleep is vital to making sure your skin is well rested and at its best. As you sleep, your skin repairs itself from the day including any stress, exposure to the sun and pollution. Proteins are produced when you sleep which in turn help build the cells in your skin. Even more so, insufficient sleep has been closely linked to fat – the hormones that control appetite, leptin and ghrelin, can become disconnected within the body causing more fat to be stored if you are not really sleeping.
– Drink 1.5 litres of water a day and presto, the appearance of your skin can dramatically improve: A recent study has shown that drinking 1.5 litres of water a day can help to reduce wrinkles. Not only that, it has great properties that help to clear your skin from spots and also helps to moisturise so if you have dry skin, i’d be swapping your coffee for a glass of water! You only have to drink 6 glasses throughout the day (or if you have a 500ml bottle then 3 of them). If water is really not your thing, there are other drinks out there that have flavouring in water (for those that don’t like water). But all ‘nat-ur-al’ is the way to go!
– Eat your veggies to healthy skin: Your mum and dad may have gone on and on about how you need to eat your vegetables as a kid – well they were not wrong! Its so important to make sure you are replenishing your skin’s nutrients and vitamins, as this gives you the healthy glow you crave for. New studies show that eating fruit and veg that are high in protein, vitamins and minerals may help to promote anti-aging properties. The more vibrant and colourful the fruit/veg the more skin-pormoting properties it has to help improve your overall skin complexion, so I have heard! Doesn’t hurt to give it a try!
Eating, drinking and sleeping are the three fundamental basics to surviving and it makes sense that its these three things you do daily, affect your skin’s appearance – so what you put into your body and how you treat it is very much reflected on your skin’s surface. So if you want a better complexion, drink more water, cut down on the alcohol and coffee, eat less take aways and look into home cooking and finally get those 7 – 8 hours you have been saying you’ll do, but haven’t yet. Your skin could be better off just with these three simple changes so why not give it a go hey?!
